Our Pastor's Biography

PasGBlueSuitDarkBackg

The spiritual pilgrimage of Gary W. Young has its genesis in the strong devotion and resilient faith of his parents and great aunt. Pastor Young’s entrance into the faith community began at age 12, when he professed his faith commitment in Christ. In May 1979, he surrendered to God’s leading into the gospel ministry and was licensed to preach. Pastor Young served in various ministerial capacities in the churches that he has been affiliated with.

After faithfully serving as New Hope's Minister of Religious Education from 1992 to 2002 under Pastor Wendell Burnett, Pastor Young received the Senior Pastor-Teacher assignment in December 2003.

Pastor Young is married to Lady Judy A. Young and is father and grandfather to their blended family. Pastor Young, a native of Wichita Falls, Texas, considers himself a transplanted Texan who has found a home in California.

Pastor Young holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas. He began his Theological graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. In December 1999, he received the Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Historical-Theology from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California. Pastor Young formerly served on the faculty of the Degree Completion Program at William Jessup University, Rocklin, California. Pastor Young is currently pursuing Doctor of Ministry Studies at George W Truett Seminary, Baylor University, Waco TX.

Galatians 2:20 is Pastor Young’s favorite scripture and accordingly serves him as “a landmark on the charts and maps of every dimension of his destiny.”

“I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I; It is Christ that lives in me. The life that I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.”
